L × W × H (cm) × pieces ÷ 1,000,000 = CBM
- Example: two pallets of 120 × 100 × 80 cm = 1.92 CBM.
- 1 CBM ≈ 35.315 cubic feet.
- LCL is usually charged on the greater of volume and weight (1 CBM against 1,000 kg).

How is air freight volumetric weight calculated?
L × W × H (cm) × pieces ÷ 6,000 = volumetric kg
- Chargeable weight is the greater of actual and volumetric weight.
- Example: 60 × 50 × 40 cm weighing 10 kg → 20 kg volumetric, charged as 20 kg.
- Imperial: 1 inch = 2.54 cm; 1 lb = 0.4536 kg.
